New Dabhol trouble

New Delhi, March 28: The Dabhol power project has hit a fresh roadblock with Punj Lloyd and its British partner Whessoe threatening legal action against Ratnagiri Gas and Power Pvt Ltd for default on payments. Ratnagiri Gas has paid only Rs 68 crore against Rs 317 crore worth of work executed on the LNG jetty and dredging. Bills worth Rs 265 crore are pending.

Vodafone deal

New Delhi, March 28: Uncertainty looms over the clearance of the Vodafone deal by the FIPB tomorrow as it is still awaiting a “conclusive” reply from the Reserve Bank and various ministries on the controversial issue of foreign holding in Hutch Essar.

Tax offices

New Delhi, March 28: Income tax offices across the country will remain open on March 31 till 8 pm to receive tax returns on the last day of the financial year.

Hindalco

Mumbai, March 28: The shareholders of Hindalco Industries today approved preferential allotment of shares to promoters up to Rs 2,600 crore to fund its capex programmes.

Tata Sons

Mumbai, March 28: Tata Sons today consolidated its stake in Tata Investment Corporation by picking up a 1.45 per cent additional stake for Rs 17 crore through an open market transaction. It picked up five lakh shares from Aftaab Investments Company for Rs 340.05 per share through a bulk deal.
