According to BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah, the centre appointed Tewari as the Security Liaison Officer for the first 30 days of the World Cup in the Caribbean. He would be replaced by a senior official of the Intelligence Bureau later.

Tewari will leave on March 7 and will co-ordinate the security arrangements for the team at the hotel, during practice and matches.
