Indian eves go down to New Zealand

Chennai: Indian women went down by 91 runs against New Zealand in the four-nation limited-overs cricket tournament here on Thursday.

In reply to New Zealand’s 272 for seven, India were restricted to 181 for eight. They concedes maximum five points in the fifth round match.

Austraila, meanwhile, having lost their first two matches, rallied to notch up a confident six-wicket win over England.

New Zealand maintained a clean slate for 17 points from five matches, while Australia tallied 14 against India’s 13 points from as many outings.

India must win their final league match against Australia to progress to the knock-out stage.

New Zealand 272/7 in 50 ovs (S. Bates 122, R. Rolls 58; J. Goswami 2/43). India 181/8 in 50 ovs (Mason 3/36). NZ won by 91 runs.
