Write away

Do you write letters anymore? Probably not. It is to bring back the habit of letter writing among children today that the twenty third day of each month is celebrated as Letter Writing Day in Japan. This day has been used as an opportunity to popularise and enlighten people about the letter writing movement on a nationwide level since 1979. As part of these efforts, each year in July, which is “Letter Writing Month”, the Postal Bureau issues commemorative postage stamps in association with Letter Writing Day. Local post offices around Japan hold classes on letter writing as well as picture letter writing. The major offices also offer sessions on international letter writing. And what’s more, you can even look up their website at www.post.yusei.go.jp to learn how to write simple but heart warming letters. So the next time you feel like sending an e-mail, write a letter instead.

Track record

Two-year-old Aryan Raj from Navi Mumbai has earned a mention in the Guinness Book of Records for his rare ability to identify different cars like the Mercedes and the Skoda with absolute ease. This toddler spends hours in the parking lot, studying cars, instead of accompanying his peers to the park. From Lancers, to BMWs to Octavias, Aryan can name them all.

The research team from Guinness will be here in April to test his knowledge. His
knowledge of cars is so extensive that he can put any adult to shame!
