Railway tribunal in capital

Ranchi, Feb. 23: Any complaints about poor services rendered by the railways, or is the company delaying in dealing with genuine grievance?

The railway board has taken a step to set up the railway claims tribunal here for addressing different kinds of complaints from passengers across the state.

The two-member tribunal, headed by a retired sessions court judge, J.P. Paul, would start functioning from April. The tribunal has started work from its office beside the computerised reservation centre at Ranchi railway station.

Earlier, aggrieved passengers had to register complaints at the tribunal’s office in Patna. Although the tribunal will start functioning from April, it has already started entertaining complaints. So far about 40 complaints have been registered. “We will also shift about 1,200 cases lodged by different parties hailing from the state at the Patna claims tribunal before the creation of the new tribunal,” said the additional registrar of the tribunal, Kashi Nath Biswas.
