Jamshedpur, Feb. 23: The Founder’s Day celebration this year promises to be sweeter and bigger than ever before.
With Corus in pocket, Tata Steel is gearing up to play the role of a wonderful host to senior executives from the Anglo-Dutch steel mill. While senior board members of Corus are likely to be here on the occasion, rumours are doing the rounds that Philip Varin, the CEO of Corus, would also be in the town on the D-Day.
If the Corus bigwigs turn up, it would the maiden visit of the Anglo-dutch firm’s officials to the Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur plant after the deal.
The Founder’s Day celebrations on March 3 this year also assumes significance, as this is the centenary year of Tata Steel. The company would complete 100 years officially on August 26 this year.
Even as the spokesperson of the company said celebrations on March 3, 2007, would be as always, this year promises to be special with many visitors to the steel city.
The exhibition to be held at Jubilee Park would move away from the usual depiction of the social activities of the steel giant. Instead, there will be a complete representation of the founder J.N. Tata’s global visions. The global thoughts and ideals of the founder, which have strengthened the company’s foundations, would be on display in the exhibition.
Corus takeover is a befitting tribute to the legend, feel the officials of the steel major. So, all the employees of Tata Steel as well as the steel city residents would be upbeat this Founder’s Day.
This year’s theme for the floats would be ASPIRE T3. The three Ts stand for technology, total quality management and theory of constraints. ASPIRE (ASPirational Initiatives to Retain Excellence) is an ongoing programme launched in May 2003.
