| Director dead Calcutta, Feb. 21: Anjan Chowdhury, the creator of many Tollywood blockbusters, died tonight. He was 64. Chowdhury was hospitalised following chest pain on February 1. His son today filed a police complaint alleging medical negligence. After a slump, Chowdhury had brought audiences back to theatres in the 1980s with hits like Shatru, Gurudakshina and Chhoto Bou. Dam crack Behrampore: A crack has developed in the Farakka barrage. Thousands of cusecs could be drained to Bangladesh because of it. Exam death Midnapore: Sandhya Dolui, 31, a Madhyamik candidate, died of heart attack while writing her paper at Keshpur in West Midnapore, about 150 km from Calcutta. She had a heart ailment. Potato crisis Chinsurah: Some 200 potato farmers of Hooghly submitted a memorandum to the district authorities. They said 75 per cent of their crop might have been destroyed by blight.
