Ranchi, Feb. 18: There is not much difference between Jharkhand ministers and corporate honchos as more often that not, they are touring.
Three ministers, including the chief minister, were on a weekend tour to various locations.
The chief minister, along with chief secretary M.K. Mandal and his private secretary Harendra Singh, rushed to Guwahati on a chartered plane to receive the flag of the National Games. Jharkhand will be hosting the next National Games. Ranchi deputy commissioner K.K. Soan was already in Guwahati. Koda will be out of Jharkhand for the next six days. Sports minister Bandhu Tirkey, who was also scheduled to take the flight to Guwahati, cancelled it to attend a function in Dhanbad.
Koda’s deputy Sudhir Mahto returned today to Delhi after spending over a week’s time in Mauritius. He was accompanied by special secretary of the industries department Dhirendra Kumar and chairman of the state khadi and gram udyog board, Jainandu.
The purpose was to take part in the India Trade Exhibition at Port Louis organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation.
He used to visit the Jharkhand stall and spent hours interacting with the visitors, trying to drive home the potential the state holds in different sectors like industry, handloom and handicrafts.
But none of the three members were ready to divulge any more details about the trip.
Back home, soon after reaching Jharkhand Bhavan, Mahto held an informal meeting with Kumar briefing him to visit the new outlet in Delhi that the state has planned to sell handicraft and silk items made by the local artisans and weavers. And after that, Mahto left Bhavan for informal meetings with top leaders of the UPA that continued late in the night.
On the other hand, rural development minister Anosh Ekka today tried to grab the limelight by addressing the problem of migrant tribal labourers, most of them from his constituency and nearby Gumla and neighbouring areas of Orissa and Chhattisgarh during a “adivasi milan samaroh”-cum-cultural programme.
Ekka had earlier hit the headlines after celebrating his son’s birthday at a lavish manner in Simdega. “Lots of government-sponsored schemes are undergoing in Jharkhand. I guarantee them to provide employment as daily wage labourers under those schemes,” said the minister.
