Guwahati: Bengal pipped Goa 2-1 to bag bronze in womens football in the National Games at the Sports Authority of India complex on Friday.
Sharon Fernandes opened the account for Goa in the 29th minute and the team maintained the lead till the 48th minute, when Bengal striker Silpi Dev levelled scores in the play-off for third place.
Sarmila Sapui then fired in the matchwinner in the 61st minute through a free-kick by bending the ball into the net from the edge of the area.
Manipur will face Orissa in the title clash at Nehru Stadium on Saturday. The former had defeated Bengal, while Orissa won by a solitary goal against Goa to reach the final.
On the mens side, Bengal lost for the second time in as many days. In the mens playoff for the third slot at Maligaon, Meghalaya defeated Bengal by a solitary goal scored by Lalding Liana in the dying minutes of the first half.
