Sarayu falls behind in funds race

Jamshedpur, Feb. 9: Jamshedpur (West) MLA Sarayu Roy and Potka legislator Amulya Sardar have fallen behind in the race for utilisation of funds.

According to an official statement, Physical and Financial Performance Under MLA Scheme, prepared by the deputy commissioner’s office, with about a month and a half to go for the end of the fiscal, only 30 per cent of the schemes undertaken in the Jamshedpur (West) constituency have been completed so far.

Sardar’s performance is marginally better than Rai. About 31.3 per cent of the schemes under his aegis have been completed.

Incidentally, each MLA is allotted a sum of Rs 1.5 crore by the government to undertake developmental work for the constituency during one financial year.

The progress chart maps the performance of Bahragora MLA Dinesh Sarangi, who has achieved an impressive 78.03 per cent of the schemes as “fairly good”. Jamshedpur (East) MLA Raghubar Das comes a close second.
