Bibaswan, Treta in semis

Third seeded local boy Bibaswan Deb outplayed sixth seed Delhi’s Ronit Bisht 6-1, 6-2 to storm into the semi-finals of the Sunfeast Junior Tennis Super Series 2007 at the Calcutta South Club on Wednesday. He is joined by Rishabhdev R. Raman (Tamil Nadu), N. Sai Kartik (Andhra Pradesh) and Samip Mehta (Gujarat) in the last-four.

Meanwhile, qualifier Natasha Palha of Goa stunned fifth seed Karnataka girl Rachita Sarda en route to semi-finals. She beat Rachita 6-2, 7-6 (7-3). Bengal’s second seed Treta Bhattacharyya too made the semis with a 6-4, 6-2 win over D. Yamini Reddy of Karnataka. The others to enter semi-finals include Delhi girls Gopika Kapoor and Shweta Chandra Rana.

MSCA win

Mainland Sambaran Academy notched an eight-wicket win over Cricket Club of Dhakuria (CCD) in the second-phase of the CAB Amber Ray Sub-Junior cricket tournament (95 points).
