Skull probe

Lalbag (Murshidabad), Feb. 1: A CID team reached here today to conduct a probe into the discovery of human skulls and bones near the sub-jail here, about 102 km from Calcutta.

The five-member team visited the site and inspected the skulls.

EC directive

Calcutta: The Election Commission has directed the state government to confirm the citizenship of applicants before including their names in electoral rolls in the ongoing voter list revision. The ration card should not be considered the primary document for citizenship, but only a supporting document, chief electoral officer Debashis Sen said.

Low-cost flats

Calcutta: The Calcutta Metropolitan Development Authority will launch a company for low-cost housing. “The company will tie up with private organisations to initiate rehabilitation projects, including housing for the poor,” said urban development minister Asok Bhattacharya.

Eye probe

Calcutta: The inquiry report on the infection of 16 patients after cataract surgeries at a district hospital on January 23 and 24 in Behrampore is likely to be submitted to the health department on Monday.
