Jamshedpur, Jan. 16: West Singhbhum police have decided to develop Tenthi Ghat and Bhata villages under Gua police station as “model villages” in Saranda forest, in a bid to woo the tribals.
The police will felicitate villagers after they link their inaccessible hamlets with other parts of the district, particularly the nearest hospital and school in Kiriburu.
In addition to the construction of roads, the police will provide farming equipment and irrigation facilities to the farmers. There is also a provision of distributing hundreds of solar lamps among the underprivileged villagers.
Infrastructure building and other development work, too, will be carried out among the villagers under the community policing programme.
“The police wanted to emphasise on community policing rather than intensifying long-range patrolling and other special operations to flush out rebels from Saranda,” assistant superintendent of police (Kiriburu) Amol Bishnu Homkar told The Telegraph.
Homkar added that the police will provide all the necessary funds and other technical help to the tribals to foster amity among them.
