In another rare honour, Rang De Basanti has been nominated for the BAFTA Award in the Film Not In The English Language category.

BAFTA or the British Academy of Film and Television Arts is the highest honour in the world of film and television in the United Kingdon and is also known as the British Oscars.

Along with Rang De Basanti, the other films nominated in the same category are Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto, Paul Verhoeven’s Black Book, Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth and Pedro Almodovar’s Volver.

Says Ronnie Screwvala, CEO of RDB producer UTV: “This BAFTA nomination is yet another affirmation that Rang De transcends all boundaries of ethnicity and nationality and appeals to the basic humanity in us all.”

The final awards ceremondy will be held on February 11 at the Royal Opera House in London.
