March to protest video

Patna, Jan. 12: More than 100 social activists and intellectuals took out a rally here today to protest against an Internet video clip allegedly showing Mahatma Gandhi in poor light.

An NRI based in the US, Gautam Prasad, is reportedly responsible for the video in which a man dressed as Mahatma Gandhi performs a dance that has raised several eyebrows because of its “objectionable” nature.

Around half-a-dozen social and cultural institutions, taking exception to the video, have demanded that the US government bring Prasad to book and get the controversial video removed from the Net.

Anil Sulabh, president of Sanskritik Sadbhavna Manch, a cultural organisation, told The Telegraph: “Such a video is not only a slur on the memory of Gandhiji but also on humanity. We cannot take it lying down and will launch a nationwide protest if the person responsible remains unpunished.”

“Gautam Prasad seems to be have deliberately made a dirty video on Gandhiji for cheap popularity in connivance with some foreign cohorts,” he alleged.
