S Kumars profit rises
S Kumars Nationwide Ltd’s profit before interest, depreciation, tax and amortisation (PBIDTA) was Rs 65.62 crore in the quarter ended December 31 against Rs 40.24 crore a year ago. It increased to Rs 177.91 crore in the nine months ended December 31 from Rs 101.23 crore. Turnover for the quarter was Rs 314.29 crore against Rs 225.74 crore in the previous year, an increase of 39.2 per cent.
Sompo pact
Sompo Japan Insurance Inc has joined an Allahabad Bank-led consortium to form Universal Sompo General Insurance. Allahabad Bank will have a 30 per cent stake in the venture and Sompo Japan, 26 per cent. Indian Overseas Bank will have 19 per cent, Karnataka Bank 15 per cent and Dabur Investment will have a 10 per cent stake in the company.
TCS move
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, will collaborate to promote higher education and research in storage computing and related technologies. As part of the collaboration, the two have signed a memorandum of understanding for a post-graduate course on storage computing architecture.
Raj Travels
Raj Travels and Tours Ltd has entered into a partnership with Gray Line Worldwide. Under the pact, Raj Travels will become the master franchisee for Gray Line’s Indian operations. Raj Travels will operate a series of Gray Line tours in several cities across India.
HP printers
Hewlett-Packard has launched a printing technology, HP Edgeline, to handle high-volume business workloads. The company has also rolled out multi-function printers, which are aimed at replacing copiers in businesses of all sizes.
LG computers
LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd has launched LG My PCs. The PCs come with maths and science courseware CDs for classes VI to VII; maths, physics, chemistry and biology courseware for classes IX to XII and an extended six-month warranty.

Bajaj Auto has received the Frost and Sullivan Super Platinum Award 2006 for manufacturing excellence. The company’s Chakan plant has been adjudged The Best amongst Best in India in the manufacturing industries.
P&G launch
P&G has launched New Pampers, a diaper brand with absorber gel material (AGM) technology, in the city. The diapers are available in small, medium and large sizes.
Genpact
Genpact has signed a five-year contract to provide finance and accounting activities for Kimberley-Clark Corporation. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.
