Trouble at conclave

Kokrajhar, Jan. 9: About 500 former members of the Bodo Liberation Tigers tried to disrupt a conclave of the Baksa district committee of the All Bodo Students’ Union at Rupahi today. The delegates, however, foiled the attempt. bsu leaders said it was a desperate attempt by the former militant cadre to “capture” the new democratically elected committee.

Peace bid

Dhubri: The Dhubri administration organised meetings on Tuesday at several places, including one at Agomoni circle office, to instil a sense of security among Hindi-speaking people living in the inter-state checkgate area.

Carlifters

Bokajan: Bokajan police arrested four Kuki youths at Sukanjan on Monday night for stealing a Maruti van. The police seized Rs 10 lakh from them.

Dergaon: Poachers killed a rhino at Kaziranga National Park on Sunday night.

Dergaon: Numaligarh police found a stolen Tata Sumo at Deopahar, on NH 39, on Sunday night.
