Student body in agitation march

Jamshedpur, Jan. 9: Taking a step ahead in their protest against the use of inferior material for road construction, students of the Jamshedpur Co-operative College went to meet the governor at Raj Bhawan today.

However, Governor Syed Sibtey Razi disappointed the group of agitated students with a no-show at the meeting.

“He had to leave urgently,” said Bunti Upadhyay, executive president of the Chhotanagpur Chhatra Yuva Parishad (CCYP), who along with Ranchi-based Jharkhand Chhatra Sangh participated in the agitation.

The two bodies met at the Ranchi University campus from where they began their march to Raj Bhawan.

In their meeting with an official, they wished to highlight the use of inferior material in the road construction, particularly the stretch from their college gate to the principal’s chamber.

They also demanded that all professors should take their classes. Above all, they demanded a student election to select their representatives.

Another demand floated was the proper utilisation of a vacant plot at the stretch adjacent to the college premises.
