Raseena upsets

Calcutta: Qualifier Saneesh Mani Mishra of Uttar Pradesh stunned fifth seed Karan Choudhary (Haryana) in the boys’ singles under-16 event of the Lotte Spout–AITA Championship Series at the BTA complex on Monday. Saneesh defeated Karan 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to make Round II.

Among other upsets, Bengal girl Raseena Chablani showed eighth seeded and statemate Rachana Sethia the door with a hard-fought 6-0, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2 victory to advance into Round II of the girls’ under-18 section.
