Guwahati, Dec. 31: City Cricket Coaching Centre (B) today defeated Kingfisher XI by 11 runs in the 14th Guwahati Challenge Trophy Cricket Tournament being played at Latasil Ground here today.
Batting first, CCCC (B) scored 191 for six in 30 overs, helped largely by a quickfire 48 off 34 balls by Siddhartha Saikia, a 37 off 43 balls by Subhankar Chakravarthy, Harmit Singh Sandhu’s 34 off 54 balls and Pranab Das’s 16 off 33 balls.
Kingfisher’s Bhaskar Barau was the pick among the bowlers having scalped two for 24 in six overs followed by Kaushik Jain, who got two for 26 in four overs and Vardhaman Patni (one for 21 in five overs).
Chasing a very daunting target, Kingfisher missed the bus by a narrow margin, finishing at 180 and losing six wickets in their allotted 30 overs. Kingfisher’s Gaurav Bawari topscored with 52 off 60 balls. Anurag Sipani made 20 off 18 balls and Anurag Surana notched 20 off 28 balls.
For the winners, Abhinandan Jindal was the most successful bowler even though he proved to be slightly expensive claiming two for 36 in five overs. Chinmoy Kashyap took one for 25.
Yesterday, Vintage XI posted a mammoth 130 run over Latasil Cricket Club in what can be called a totally one-sided match.
Helped by Deepjyoti Chakraborty’s 80 off 77 balls and Vickey Kala’s 26 off 36 balls, Vintage piled up a crippling 169 in 29.01 overs.
Anup Das who took four for 30 in 6 overs and Parikshit Bhuyan with a haul of four for 30 in 4.1 overs were the pick of Latasil Cricket Club bowlers. Latasil club managed a meagre 39 runs in 14.1 overs, largely because of Sumit Jain’s six for 18 in 5.2 overs and Amit Jain’s three for four in two overs.
