Imphal: Father-in-law of world women’s boxing champion Mary Kom, Reikhupthang Kamang Kom, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in interior Bishenpur district of Manipur last night, police said Friday.

Police said three unidentified gunmen asked Kamang Kom, who was the chief of Samu Lamlan village, to guide them to Nenglong Tampak village, about 60 kms from here.

Soon after Kamang Kom left his house, family members heard gunshots, reports said, adding that his body was recovered this morning near Nenglong Tampak village.

A note which wrote ‘Manipur Komrem Revolutionary Front’ (MKRF) was also found near the body. The motive behind the murder was not known.
