HC grants bail to murder accused

Jamshedpur, Dec. 11: Jharkhand High Court on Friday granted the bail petition of Rita Singh, in connection with the Indudhari Singh murder case, registered with Bistupur police.

Judge G. B. Patnaik of Jharkhand High Court granted bail to Singh against a security of Rs 10,000.

Singh, a doctor residing at Circuit House area, Bistupur, however, was not released from Sakchi jail today despite the grant. Her release is subject to an official communiqué regarding the grant to the court concerned, which has not yet arrived.

Earlier, the accused had tried to obtain bail from district and sessions judge, Jamshedpur, but her petition was rejected. The accused, Rita Singh and her brother-in-law Bindudhari Singh, were arrested on August 30, 2006, for allegedly conspiring and murdering Indudhari Singh, her husband, on April 14, 2006. Police sources claimed that the younger brother and the accused were after Indhudhari Singh’s properties and that the two were also having an affair.
