Two FIRs lodged in abuse case

Sambalpur, Dec. 10: Block development officer of Jamankira Gopal Chandra Nayak, accompanied by secretary of the OAS Officers’ Association Ravi Nanda, lodged an FIR against Sambalpur collector Vishal Gagan at Town police station last night.

The BDO has accused the collector of abusing him at a recent meeting, before asking the guards to shoot at him.

“The conflict between the collector and the BDO has helped unearth corruption among the so-called white elephants of society,” said an OAS officer on condition of anonymity.

“Just for a few officers, the entire OAS fraternity working in the state is blamed,” he added, demanding an impartial inquiry into the matter.

Gagan, on his part, filed an FIR against Nayak at Dhanupali police station alleging that the BDO had misbehaved with him.

After filing the FIR on Saturday night, Nanda said OAS officers of the district would wear black badges and stop cooperating with the collector.

“We will also take up the matter with the chief minister at Bhubaneswar,” he added. Nanda evaded the rest of the questions saying he was not in a position to answer them.
