Shruti takes early lead

Calcutta: Shruti Khanna of Delhi took the lead with a superb round of 72 gross two-over par on Day I of the East India Ladies Golf Championship at the Tollygunge Club on Tuesday. Shruti was closely followed by Meghna Bal (73 gross) and Sharmista Nicolette (gross 74) after the first round.

In the Gold Division, Mani Chander was leading the fray for Rasoi Cup with 69 nett. Both Meghna and Nalini Singh finished the day at 72 nett and were jointly in the second place.

Sonia Barman was leading in the Open Scratch Trophy and Tollygunge LGU Cup with the scores of 83 gross and 67 nett, respectively.
