75-lakh car cheat in net

Chennai, Nov. 15 (PTI): The daughter of an industrialist has been arrested for allegedly cheating 70 car owners and failing to pay them rental worth Rs 75 lakh.

akshi Reddy, 50, was arrested after 22 people lodged complaints that she had hired their cars, but neither paid them nor returned the vehicles.

Beard-pull

Hissar (PTI): A Congress leader from Haryana has been booked for allegedly pulling the beard of a Sikh truck driver after an accident. Kapoor Singh Poonia also allegedly threatened the driver. The driver then informed the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, which approached police.

Judge dead

Mumbai (PTI): A judge died of heart attack on Wednesday, 15 days after his dismissal from service after an inquiry. Additional sessions judge V.C. Singh was dismissed by the law and judiciary department under the Maharashtra Civil Service (Discipline and Appeal) Rules of 1979.

Cop killed

Varanasi (PTI): A constable was allegedly beaten to death by some relatives over a property dispute in Chandauli district. Ashok Yadav, 36, was killed by his elder brother’s family on Tuesday, police said.

Pak man held

Jammu (PTI): A Pakistani was arrested by the BSF when he was trying to enter India illegally near the International Border in the Nikowal belt on Tuesday, an official said.
