Korea, Jordan in semis

Calcutta: Jin Hyung-song scored a brace, helping South Korea reach the semi-finals of the AFC Youth Championship.

The defending champions beat Australia 2-1 in the first quarter final at the Salt Lake Stadium on Monday.

Jin found the net in the 10th and 36th minutes while Christopher Grossman pulled one back for Australia in the 17th minute.

In the second quarter final, Jordan also defeated China in identical fashion.

L.A. Zaideh put Jordan ahead before the break. Abdallah Salim, then extended the lead, converting a penalty kick. Xu Yang reduced the margin for China.

In the semi-final, South Korea will now face Japan, who beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 in another quarter final clash in Bangalore, here on Thursday.
