CID staff bail

Calcutta: The high court has rejected the bail plea of Kailash Roy, an employee of the criminal investigation department’s bomb disposal squad, and two others. Jalpaiguri police had arrested the trio 10 days ago for allegedly extorting money in various parts of Bengal by scaring people with bomb hoaxes.

Killer brother

Behrampore: Bhudeb Das, a resident of Jogpur in Murshidabad, has been arrested on the charge of bludgeoning his elder brother Trilochan to death. Police said Trilochan, an alcoholic, stole rice from the household and sold it in the market to get money for liquor. When he returned home drunk, Bhudeb hit him with a crowbar, killing him on the spot.
