Concern over job chances

New Delhi, Oct. 29: The number of unemployed all over the world in the 15-24 age group has risen nearly 15 per cent over the past decade, while south Asia accounts for a 10 per cent increase, a new ILO report said. The latest report on unemployment said while the number of the young unemployed increased from 74 million to 85 million between 1995 and 2005, nearly 300 million youths, which was approximately 25 per cent of their total population, lived below $2-per-day-poverty line.

Russia oil

Moscow, Oct. 29: With India seeking sustained supply of one million barrels per day (mbd) of crude oil from Russia, petroleum and natural gas minister Murli Deora will hold talks with Russian ministers and energy officials on the issue during his visit to the country beginning tomorrow.

Piracy move

Tokyo, Oct. 29: Japan, the US, Canada and the EU will take concerted action against China at the World Trade Organisation to press Beijing to crack down on illegally copied and pirated products. Washington is expected to bring the case to the global trade body as early as next week.

New Delhi, Oct. 29: Sebi is working on a user-friendly online language called XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language), a dictionary of data definition that incorporates the mechanism for describing, naming and classifying items of business information.

Currency swap

New Delhi, Oct. 29: With infrastructure crying for long-term funding and external commercial borrowing having a cap of $18 billion in a year, the finance ministry is toying with the idea of allowing currency-swap to allow foreign funding in rupee-denominated loans.
