Mumbai, Oct. 11: Mumbais glitterati literally ran from pillar to post today trying to be at two places at the same time.
Stars, celebs or politicians, none wanted to miss their date with two of Bollywoods biggest stars: Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.
But it was a bit complicated as the two Khans were having their big bashes on the same day, at the same time: Shah Rukh for the release of his biography and Salman for his flick Jaanemans release.
Though industry insiders said SRKs party, planned just a week ago, was a deliberate attempt to put a spoke in the wheel for the Jaaneman bash, Bollywood refused to be drawn into the controversy.
So it was party hopping at its best with most choosing to make appearances at both dos.
The SRK camp was present in full force at The ITC Grand Maratha Sheraton & Towers where the book launch was organised by publishers Om Books. The book, Still Reading Khan, SRK, (Rs 3,000) written by Mushtaq Sheikh, was to be launched at 9 pm, the same time as the Jaaneman bash.
The person in the most difficult spot was choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan, believed to be part of SRKs inner circle. Jaaneman is directed by her husband Shirish Kunder and is his first film.
She chose to attend SRKs event first and then move on to the Jaaneman party.
I dont think there will be much problem as all filmy parties begin late. And a book launch at the most will stretch for an hour, said a socialite.
But Jaaneman producer Sajid Nadiadwala, was not amused, sources said.
He took it as a direct challenge by SRK. The Jaaneman party had been planned two months back and SRK knew about it. The chief minister has been invited…. It was not right of him to create such a situation, said a close friend.
Sanjay Mago, director, Om Books, which organised the SRK event along with journalist turned author Sheikh, dismissed the conspiracy theory.
The dates clashed as we couldnt find a five-star hotel on any other day. Its absolute rubbish that Shah Rukh is deliberately hosting the event on the same day. People are forgting that we, the author and I, chose the date.
