Sensex magic moment
Mumbai, Sept. 14: The sensex today breached the 12000-mark in intra-day trade, touching a high of 12003.68 on the back of robust buying in a host of banking, IT and energy stocks. However, it ended at 11973.02, gaining 79.23 points over its previous close. The National Stock Exchange’s nifty surged by 29.45 points to 3,484 points.

London, Sept 14: Aviva will reduce its staff in the UK by 4,000 from the existing 36,000 and send 1,000 of them to India by 2008 on offshore assigments. The insurance firm, which owns Norwich Union, hopes to reduce duplication and improve efficiency to deliver annual cost savings of £250 million by 2008.
Satyam stock
Mumbai, Sept. 14: Satyam Computer Services today said its promoters have corporatised their shareholdings by transferring their stakes into a holding company.
RBI panel
Mumbai, Sept. 14: The RBI will set up a committee to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the financial sector, including its prudential aspects. The committee will be chaired by RBI deputy governor Rakesh Mohan and economic affairs secretary Ashok Jha.
R-Com move
New Delhi, Sept. 14: Anil Ambani-controlled Reliance Communications (R-Com) today filed three petitions against BSNL and MTNL in the TDSAT relating to rentals charged for points of interconnection and recovery suits.
