The department of law, Burdwan University, organised a national seminar on “Protection of consumer rights and welfare” under the consumer protection laws on August 26 and 27, 2006, at the Burdwan Science Centre Auditorium. It was inaugurated by Justice Malay Basu, president of West Bengal Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission. Prof. S.S. Singh, project director, IIPA, New Delhi, was the chief guest. After the speakers shared their views on different aspects of consumer protection, they had an interactive session with the audience. We thank Dr Manik Chakravorty, head of the law department, Prof. S.S. Singh and all teachers, staff and students of the law department for making the seminar such a huge success.
