Top seed ousted

Boys’ under-18 top seed Baibhav Das was ousted 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 1-5 (conceded) by Prem Singh in the Bumchums Calcutta Hardcourt Tennis Championships on Friday. Prem went on to beat sixth seed Nirmal Yadav 6-2, 6-1. Ayush Dharewa upset fifth seed Saurav Chowdhury 0-6, 6-1, 6-4. In girls’ under-10 semis, Shreya Das beat Ruhi Nahata and Mehak Sekhani ousted Priyam Periwal 7-1. Making girls’ under-18 semis were Arundhuti Basu and Raseena Chablani.

Krittwika Sinha Roy and Suparna Bhattacharya entered the sub-junior girls’ final of the JCB Excelsiors Club table tennis championships on Friday. Making the cadet girls’ final were Priyanka Saha and Rivika Biswas.

RESULTS: Sub-junior girls’ semis: Krittwika Sinha Roy bt Ria Dutta 11-6, 11-7, 9-11, 13-11. Cadet girls’ semis: Priyanka Saha bt Rivika Biswas 11-5, 11-1, 11-9; Ria Dutta bt Rupsa Banga 11-4, 11-6, 11-3.

Cricket meet

Ares Travels beat Srei Infrastructure to enter the Gold Plate final of the Corporate Indoor Cricket meet. Ares Travels will face DPSC Ltd who defeated UBI in Thursday’s semi-final.
