Railway FC win via own goal

Railway FC beat Eastern Railway thanks to a suicidal Joydeep Debnath goal in their CFL Premier Division match on Monday. The George Telegraph versus Calcutta Port Trust (CPT) match ended goalless.

Meanwhile, police have refused permission for the East Bengal versus Mohammedan Sporting match, rescheduled for September 13, because of byelections. The Mohun Bagan versus CPT match has been rescheduled for September 10.

Super Division WB Police bt Calcutta Customs 4-0; Peerless bt SAIL 1-0; Howrah Union bt CFC 3-2.

College soccer

Kanailal Bhattacharya College beat Baruipur College 2-0 in the Inter-College football meet on Monday. Pradip Bag scored both goals.

In another match, N.H. Paul College scraped past Srerampore College by a Dipankar Mondal goal.

Hardcourt meet

Shuvam Roy, Azan Piperno and Suryashish Goswami won their matches in the Under-14 section of the Bumchums Calcutta Hardcourt Tennis Championships on Monday. There were no upsets in any of the categories.
