The 15-year-old girl from Hyderabad, who created a sensation by becoming the first Indian woman to win a four star event in Philippines Open, set up a clash with Thailands Soratija Chansrisukot on Thursday.
Another youngster, Aditi Mutatkar, lost her second round match to Jie Yao of The Netherlands. Mutatkar exited after losing 16-21, 15-21.
Indias challenge in the mens singles ended with Anup Sridhar and P. Kashyap losing out. National champion Sridhar handed over a first game advantage to lose the gruelling tie 21-16, 13-21, 15-21. Philippines Kamivic Asuncian caused Kashyaps exit with a 17-21, 19-21 win.
Other players in singles Arvind Bhat, Ajay Jayram and Anand Pawar failed to clear the first round hurdle.
