Sketch clue to murder mystery

Police are trying to solve the case of the murder of a 40-year-old man whose decomposed body was found in an apartment at Baruipur, in South 24-Parganas, on Monday, with the help of sketches by experts in the CID. The sketches are of the people who were “last seen” with the victim. Although sleuths are certain that the man had been strangled, the investigation so far has drawn a blank. Three persons have been detained for interrogation.

Flight return after snag

A Calcutta-Bangkok flight of Indian, that took off from Calcutta airport at 11.35 am on Friday, returned at 12.10 pm after the indicator panel flashed a snag alert. The 94 passengers were flown out on another craft.

Dacoits in net

Four armed dacoits were arrested on a Canning-Barasat local train at Ballygunge station on Friday afternoon following a tip-off. They have been identified as Rahim Ali Gazi, Mustaf Sheikh, Salauddin Haldar and Hasan Mollah. Two revolvers and ammunition were seized from them.

Road mishap

Kalo Mondal, 32, was killed and a woman injured after being knocked down by a private bus near the Calcutta Leather Complex on Friday.

Arms and man

Mohammed Walia Rehman, 52, was arrested when he was about to board a Patna-bound train at Howrah station on Thursday night on charges of possessing arms illegally.
