Three top-10 players for Mumbai meet

Calcutta: Three of the world’s top ten players have confirmed participation in the ATP Mumbai Open to be held from September 25 to October 1.

According to information received here, world No. 7 Tommy Robredo, No. 8 Mario Ancic — who confirmed his presence on Tuesday — and No. 9 Radek Stepanek will all feature in the premier event organised by Globosport.

World No. 16 Fernando Gonzalez, former world No. 1 Carlos Moya and No. 18 Nicolas Kiefer will also take part, besides home-grown stars Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi.

This will be the first tennis event in south-east Asia which will witness three players from the top-10 in action. The tournament is being held at the Cricket Club of India.

With the three top-10 players, a total of five players in the top-20 will participate.
