New Delhi: India had to be content with a bronze medal in the junior girls team event at the 12th Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship in Kitakyushu, Japan, when they lost to China in the semi-final on Thursday.

The Indian eves went down 0-3 to the Asian powerhouses, while the junior boys finished fifth. The girls had made it to the last four by pulling off a thrilling 3-2 upset over Chinese Taipei on Wednesday.

The win also earned them a spot in the World Junior Table Tennis Championships in Cairo. (PTI)
