Srishti upsets fifth seed

Top seed Karan Bidani of Delhi lost to seventh seed Madhurjya Dutta of Assam 5-4 (7-4), 5-4 (7-1) in the under-12 boys' category of the Vision Search-AITA Talent Series tennis meet at Calcutta Gymkhana on Wednesday.

In the girls' singles under-16 pre-quarters, Srishti Kumar of Calcutta upset fifth seed Orissa's Seeulee K Upadhyaya 6-4, 6-3 while Andrea Das ousted eighth seed Angana Ghosh 6-4, 6-0.

Andrea went on to oust fourth seed Srestha Banerjee to book her place in the semi-final. She beat Srestha 6-2,6-4.

Peerless win

Peerless beat Howrah Union 2-1 in the Super Division of the Sahara Calcutta Football League on Wednesday. In another match, Customs overcame CFC 1-0.

Soccer meet

HDFC Chubb beat Apeejay 5-1 in Calcutta Rangers Club five-a-side meet on Wednesday. In other matches, HDFC Bank overcame HT Media 2-0, Hyatt blanked Avaya 5-0 and United Conveyor defeated Citicorp 5-0.
