Founded 25 years ago on this day, Natya Shodh Sansthan is a reputed archiving and research centre on Indian theatre. It is committed to the collection, study and dissemination of records and material related to Indian theatre and possesses the largest collection of archival documents. Its founder members include eminent theatre-personalities and educationists Vijay Tendulkar, Kumar Roy, Shyamanand Jalan and Pratibha Agarwal, among others. Commencing this evening (at Sisir Mancha; 6 pm), the inaugural programme of the Sansthan?s silver jubilee celebrations features the release of Bharatiya Ranga Kosh, Sandharva Hindi Part II, followed by screening of some rare recordings from its archives. An exhibition on 25 Years of Theatre in Eastern India will be inaugurated tomorrow (at Gaganendra Pradarshasala; 6 pm). Also, Vinod Nagpal and his group will present theatre songs in Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi and Urdu. The celebrations will conclude with a performance of Bohurupee?s Deepadanda, directed by Kumar Roy (July 21 at Sisir Mancha; 6 pm).
