THE SEQUEL MANIA

Indian mainstream cinema is out to prove a point. That they couldn’t with Nagina, Vaastav or Hyderabad Blues’ second editions. But who’s giving up? We have seen loads of it in Hollywood and now Bollywood has taken the plunge. It’s the time for super sequels.

Beginning with Phir Hera Pheri [last week], followed by Krrish [this week], Munna Bhai 2nd Innings [August 25], Dhoom 2 [October 20] and Hanuman 2 [November].
With this second coming people within and outside the industry are hopeful that something extraordinary is inevitable for the BO.

But it doesn’t really end here. Rakesh Roshan is not going to rest with just one sequel, he’s already thinking of a third instalment after Koi...Mil Gaya and Krrish.

The Dhoom series is also expected to continue, desires Yash Raj. Sunny Deol wants to make a sequel to Betaab! Again Sajid Nadiadwala wants to go the sequel way with his Judwaa! Firoz A. Nadiadwala and Vidhu Vinod Chopra are also excited about bringing back Baburao, Raju, Shyam [Hera Pheri] and Munnabhai, Circuit [Munna Bhai MBBS] on to the big screen yet again.

And yes, even Boney Kapoor is showing a wide entry sign to his No Entry called Welcome.
