Focus market scheme

New Delhi, June 15: The government has notified a list of 57 countries in Africa and South America that would get duty benefits under the Focus Market Scheme, announced in the foreign trade policy early this year. The list includes eight countries in South America and 49 in Africa, but excludes some big countries like Brazil, South Africa and Sudan. The Focus Market and Focus Product were two schemes introduced by commerce minister Kamal Nath to replace the Target Plus Scheme. Focus Market allows duty credit facility at 2.5 per cent of the f.o.b. value of exports of all products to the notified countries.

Qualcomm CEO

New Delhi, June 15: Qualcomm top brass will visit India next week and may hold talks with Reliance Communications on royalty obligations. Qualcomm gets 7 per cent royalty from CDMA operators for using the chips in CDMA handsets, thus inflating their operations cost. Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacob is also likely to meet IT minister Dayanidhi Maran.

Bata VRS

Calcutta, June 15: Bata India Ltd is planning a second round of voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) this year as part of its efforts to rationalise the workforce, sources said.

SAIL plan

Calcutta, June 15: The Steel Authority of India Ltd has raised its investment plan till 2011-12 to Rs 35,000 crore from Rs 25,000 crore as envisaged earlier, the company has informed the bourses.

China trade

New Delhi, June 15: The government has finalised a list of 15 products for import and 29 for export for trade with China through the Nathu La pass, which is due to open later this month.

Reliance Fuel

New Delhi, June 15: Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Fuel Resources has sought the government?s permission to lay a Rs 16,000-crore pipeline to take natural gas from Reliance Industries?s field off the Andhra coast to its power plant at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh.

Panasonic

New Delhi, June 15: Panasonic today said it would invest more in India to revive its brand and market share.
