Cop entry case

Ranchi, June 12: The allegation made by Backlog Police Karmi Sangharsh Samiti, East Singhbhum, once again brought to the fore loopholes in police recruitment in the state.

The organisation today alleged that the state government encourages backdoor entries into the department.

Despite making it through the selections, more than 200 hopefuls from the East Singhbhum district have not been recruited since 2003, they claimed.

At present, the organisation is struggling for the rights of the candidates, who alleged that the names of many of those recruited were not in the initial list that the home department had advertised.

The organisation advisor, Dinesh Kinu, said the department came up with a list of vacancy of 3,447 posts for constables in 2003. Out of this, 532 belonged to East Singhbhum. In the first phase, around 100 candidates were recruited, while in the second and third phases, 115 and 134 candidates were selected, but the rest remained unemployed.

The department officials had then stated that there were no remaining vacancies. Later, candidates presented many applications to the director-general of police, home secretary and home minister but with no avail.
