Jamshedpur, June 1: Life Insurance Corporation of India is celebrating its golden jubilee ?on the wheels?.

Exhibition-on-wheels ? the Zindagi Express, showcasing the 50 glorious years of LIC, reached here today. Area railway manager (Tatanagar) Ashish Kumar was the first person here to see the exhibition at Tatanagar railway station. Thousands followed suit.

The visitors also got a chance to take part in a golden jubilee quiz, which tested their general knowledge about the insurance major.

There were questions like when did LIC come into existence, whether it had offices abroad, how much assets did it have, how many people were insured with LIC across the country and in which fields LIC invest.

The winners were given attractive prizes too.

Most visitors were seen crowding the section ?Data Station?, in which the policyholders could know the status of their policies by pressing a button on the touch screen. There were other sections, which highlighted the achievements of LIC since it was nationalised in 1956.

The visitors were also amused to learn about some interesting facts like Sachin Tendulkar?s mother, Rajani Tendulkar and Meena Agarkar, mother of Ajit Agarkar had worked with LIC in Mumbai.

Life size statues of models depicting the countries where LIC operates were also a centre of attraction. Besides India, LIC operates in seven countries, including Mauritius, Nepal, Fiji, Bahrain, Sri Lanka and the UK.

C.K. Chatterjee, the manager of sales of the LIC Jamshedpur division, said over 10,000 people visited the exhibition displayed on eight bogies of a train hired by the LIC from Indian Railways.

The train would next halt at Cuttack.

Before rolling to a stop, the train would stop at 39 railway stations across the country and terminate the journey at Safdarganj railway station in Delhi on July 17, from where it started its journey on April 27.
