Result fear drives teen to death

Bhubaneswar, May 30: A Berhampur-based student, who wrote his Plus Two science examination, used a telephone wire to hang himself to death at his home a few hours before the results were announced.

Jagannath Dalai, 17, a student of Khallikote Junior College, did not perform well in the exam. Some of his friends also said that he did not appear for the practical papers.

The father of the deceased, Pradyumna Dalai, said the youth watched television till late last night. But he had no inkling of what his son was planning to do. Jagannath is believed to have committed suicide around 4 am today.

The youth was taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital where he was declared dead. The body was later sent for post-mortem.
