South Point in semis

Guwahati, May 26: South Point School today qualified for the semifinals of the second Dipika Saikia and Dhan Sena Sinha inter-school cricket meet, defeating Angels of God High School in the last quarterfinal at Latasil Ground.

South Point face DAV High School in the first semifinal tomorrow and Srimanta Sankar Academy play Faculty HS School in the other on Sunday.

In today?s match, Angels of God were restricted to 109 for nine in 22 overs and South Point reached 111 for four in 19 overs for a six-wicket win. Himangshu Das (25) and Dhanjir Deka (19) were the highest scorers for Angels while Prabal Bharadwaj and Rupamjyoti Talukdar of South Point shared two wickets each.

Parthajit Baishya of South Point was unbeaten on 40. Rupamjyoti Talukdar, who contributed 34, was named Man of the Match. Suman Boro scalped three for 32.

Condolence

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi today condoled the death of former state footballer Amol Phukan in Dibrugarh yesterday. AFA secretary Ankur Dutta also expressed his condolences.
