New shores for TFA cadets

Jamshedpur, May 18: After Germany, it is the turn of Southampton.

Cadets of Tata Football Academy (TFA) will be honing their skills in Southampton (United Kingdom) in July. Earlier, the boys used to undergo training at Sports University in Cologne, Germany.

However, now, the academy has decided to bring a change in the coaching module and Southampton came across as a viable option.

The boys will also participate in the Wales International Tournament (formerly known as the Ian Rush Tournament) between July 23 and 29.

The outfit will leave for Southampton on July 9, said Satish Pillai, chief of the academy. The idea behind sending the cadets for an offshore training is to give them ?exposure in alien conditions?, he added. Pillai said they were keen to give the boys as much exposure as possible.

TFA officials also added that they have tied-up with an English club in Southampton and the training trip is a part of the deal. ?So far we had adopted the German training method, but we thought that there was no harm in going for a change,? said an official of the football academy.

?We will be shortly announcing the team for the Southampton trip. We are on the job of selecting cadets,? a TFA official said, adding that a support staff would also accompany the boys.
