Ranchi, May 16: People in the state capital will soon have a direct train to pink city (Jaipur) and holy city (Ajmer).
Divisional railway manager (DRM) of South Eastern Railway D.D. Devangan said Garib Nawaz Express, from Ranchi to Ajmer, would be introduced shortly.
Addressing mediapersons here today, Devangan said: ?The train had been announced in the railway budget this year. And it would be introduced soon.?
?The train would go via New Delhi and Jaipur,? he added.
Earlier, there were no direct trains either to Jaipur or Ajmer from the state capital, so it would immensely benefit the passengers, railway officials said.
This apart, there is also a proposal to run Rajdhani Express for another day in the week. As of now, the train runs two days a week ? on Wednesday and Sunday ? via Gomoh.
But according to the new proposal, it would run for another day via Daltonganj, since no Rajdhani Express plies on this particular route, the officials said.
Besides, the railway is also planning a major facelift of the stations at Hatia, Ranchi, Muri and Ramgarh, Devangan said.
According to Devangan, 15 reservation counters are going to come up at the Ranchi station, while eight new reservation counters will be set up at Hatia.
The circulating area (campus outside the station) would also be revamped and parking zone for four-wheelers would be developed pretty soon.
Same facilities would also be available in stations like Ramgarh, Hatia and Muri as well.
Railway officials said as of now, the Ranchi station has the capacity to keep around 18 coaches on a platform. Work has already been started for making it a 24-bogey platform.
Coach indication boards as well as vendor machines for availing platform tickets would also be installed soon, said railway officials.
The announcement system in Ramgarh and Muri has also been upgraded.
The railway officials had been facing some difficulties regarding the cleaning system of the trains, which have also been addressed.
These areas are also being looked into seriously, railway officials maintained.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Vivek Srivastava was also present on the occasion.
