Bhubaneswar, May 7: A tourist from Bengal drowned in the Puri sea yesterday, reports our correspondent.

Rabindra Mahanta (23), a resident of Dumdum on the outskirts of Calcutta, had arrived at Puri on Friday along with his parents and put up at a seaside hotel.

Yesterday around 11 am, Mahanta went to take a dip in the sea leaving his family on the beach. The youth, who did not know how to swim, was soon caught in the strong current. An unconscious Mahanta was rushed to a hospital but he died on the way.
