Wipro in buy mode

Mumbai, May 5: The consumer care and lighting division of Wipro Ltd has acquired the switches business of North-West Switchgear in a Rs 102.2-crore all-cash deal.

“We have acquired the North-West brand from the company and it will continue to make switches. Wipro will take care of the sales part across the country,” said Vineet Agrawal, president of Wipro consumer care and lighting division.

North-West Switchgear is in the business of switches and sockets. Its product range includes the MCB Tiny Trip, which is extensively used in households.
