One-stop shop for town

Siliguri, April 21: Quality products, services and a bargain in air-conditioned comfort.

What more could the housewives in this increasingly consumer-conscious trading hub ask for'

These were the USPs the senior executives of Skystar Shopping Pvt. Ltd promised two days before the opening of Kool Kirana, their new supermarket on the second floor of the building on Sevoke Road that houses Sunflower Shopping Mall.

Spread over 1,600 sq ft, the supermarket will have 'everything, from pins to microwave ovens,' said the company's chief executive officer Anand Agarwal. The items will be available at a rate either less than the maximum retail price or equal to it with an added offer.

'There will be other offers from time to time,' said Jai Banerjee, the manager operations of Skystar. 'But all our products will be genuine and fresh.'

The supermarket will also start a free home delivery service in a month's time, reaching commodities to New Jalpaiguri and Bagdogra. 'Even Gangtok might be included in the home-delivery service scheme, provided the order is of a minimum billing,' Banerjee added.

A restaurant, Time Pass, and a food court are also in the pipeline. 'Talks are on with Coffee Pai to open an outlet in the supermarket. If it comes through, this will be the first branded coffee shop in Siliguri,' said Agarwal.

He said the daily footfall at Sunflower Shopping Mall has increased to 800 from 350 during its initial days.
